Freezing Motion and Capturing Motion Blur
For this assignment, the main focus was capturing motion blur within our images. In my opinion, this was one of the most difficult assignments because in order to successfully capture motion blur, camera movement is required. On top of that you must also consider composition, exposure and white balance while taking these pictures. Motion blur can be very important to an image to create a focus point. With the subject in focus and the background blurred, it draws the viewer's attention away from the less important elements of the image and brings it to the main subject. In terms of intentional motion blur, I believe the image of the cop car is the strongest in this regard. Although the image was on-the-fly in preparation, it still utilizes a strong focus on the subject point and successfully blurs the background. If the camera warns you that your subject is too bright, lowering the ISO would be a good remedy.
